DBT Skills Groups - General

  • The duration of your group commitment is the same for our traditional DBT group and our RO-DBT groups. Our program is comprised of two back-to-back 24-week cycles, equaling approximately 1 year.

  • No, you may not attend DBT Eastside group until you have had your intake appointment with our Intake Coordinator and at least one session with your individual therapist.

  • Based on client needs and availability, our Intake Coordinator will identify a group for you to attend. It is expected that you attend this group weekly. Should you experience a change in schedule, you can contact our offices to request new group assignment, subject to availability.

  • If you need to miss your regular group, you may attend an alternate group held the same week as your missed group, provided there is space available. Please check in with your regular Group Leader about makeup groups.

For those in our RO-DBT, if you are unable to attend group for that week, please contact your Group Leader to discuss what content you will be missing. No make-ups are available for this group type.

  • Guidelines for skills groups include that no “confidential” relationships are formed between group members where problem behaviors could be encouraged in one another. If friendships or romantic relationships are formed, we ask for transparency and may potentially ask for one of the members to attend an alternate group. DBT Eastside does not accept responsibility for interactions outside of your DBT Eastside group or outside the DBT Eastside offices.

  • In those cases, DBT Eastside will take action as needed, which may include disclosure to an inside or outside therapist, family member and / or other professionals, as required by law. DBT Eastside therapists are mandated reporters.

  • Our skills groups are not used for processing high-risk or potentially triggering behaviors. Group rules at DBT Eastside state that behaviors such as self-harm, substance use / abuse, suicidal ideation / gestures, and sexual activity are not discussed outwardly in group and instead saved for the time spent in individual sessions.

  • This rarely happens; however, if a client is disruptive or not appropriate for a DBT Eastside group, they may be given “a vacation” for a period of time or discharged from group attendance. In most cases this would happen after prior opportunities were given for behaviors to be modified. Clients are not charged for 4 “missed” groups in that instance.

  • Yes. When groups are held in-person, DBT Eastside follows the Bellevue School District snow-day schedule. If schools are cancelled within the Bellevue School District, DBT Eastside’s groups for that day are also cancelled. Should Bellevue School District have late start, DBT Eastside’s groups will take place as usual.

  • For standard DBT, the DBT Skills Training Handouts & Worksheets book we use is available on Amazon and it is recommended that you purchase it prior to starting group. The RO-DBT Handouts & Worksheets book will be emailed to you as a PDF after your intake.

  • If your child is 18 or over AND not living with you, you will not be required to sign a contract to attend the DBT Parent / Affected Others groups; however, we strongly suggest that you consider it.

  • Through our Parent/Affected Others skills groups you will have the opportunity to learn DBT skills and ask questions specific to your family’s needs – along with the support of other families going through the same thing. In addition, Parents / Affected Others may reach out to their group leaders, who can refer them to a DBT Eastside therapist for 1:1 coaching.

Billing

  • Our Administrative / Billing team can be reached using the Contact Us form on this website or by calling our mainline at 425 615 0605.

  • DBT Eastside and associated therapists do not take insurance. Individual session and group fees are charged weekly using the credit card information we have on file. Invoices and superbills will be emailed to you monthly or you can access them using your client portal.

The superbills we provide you may be submitted to your insurance carrier for reimbursement, should your plan allow it. We highly recommend that you check with your insurance carrier prior to scheduling your intake to see if our services are reimbursable. Please note we use the following CPT codes:

    • Intake: 90791

    • Individual Therapy: 90837

    • Group Therapy: 90853

If your insurance requests a Diagnosis Code, we frequently use the below codes; your actual code may differ based on assessment during intake or with your therapist.

    • F43.20

    • F41.9

  • Other than DBT Eastside’s scheduled vacation weeks, clients will be charged each week for group during their contract period. Unfortunately, we cannot accommodate short-term hospitalizations, camps, family vacations, sport / other activities, etc. as exceptions to our contract and four-miss policy.

Our policy has one exception: if a client moves to long-term, inpatient treatment (30 days+), their contract is put on hold and restarts should the client choose to return to our program. To ensure a hold is placed, the client or their parent / guardian should notify DBT Eastside immediately.

  • Once you have missed four groups in a row, your contract will be ended and you will no longer be automatically charged for group. After that we will assume that you have dropped out of your DBT Eastside group and you will no longer be on contract. Your individual DBT therapist will evaluate on an individual basis if they will continue to work with you. Phone coaching benefits will discontinue.

  • Rates for individual and group sessions are subject to change at any time. Notification of any changes will be communicated to clients at the earliest possibly opportunity.

  • • Intake: $350 (1-2 hours)

    • Individual Session: $175 (50 minutes)

    • Group Sessions:

Adult Group $120 per group (90 minutes)

Teen Group $100 per group (90 minutes)

Parent / Affected Others Groups: $100 per group per parental unit (90 minutes)

o If you have a blended family with more than 2 parents / affected others interested in attending group, please let your intake coordinator know and arrangements can be made

Therapist Assignment

  • You may choose to enroll in a DBT Eastside group while seeing an outside therapist, meaning you are opting out of Gold Standard DBT and Phone Coaching. The exception to this is clients experiencing behaviors considered high risk enough to warrant a recommendation of Gold Standard treatment. This will be assessed at intake. We require that your outside therapist fill out and return our referral form. All clients with outside therapists must continue with 1:1 therapy while participating in group. Parents / Affected Others are an exception to this policy.

  • You may reach out to our intake line to request therapist assignment. Our team will do our best to have you assigned to a therapist within a reasonable period of time.

  • Our Intake Coordinators at DBT Eastside make every effort to match each incoming client with a therapist who they believe will be the best match – in expertise, personality and availability. If, after a few sessions, you determine that it is not a good fit, every effort will be made to accommodate you and find another therapist.

  • Unfortunately, no. Clients, Parents / Affected Others may get phone coaching only if they are working with or formally consulting 1:1 with a DBT Eastside therapist and attending a DBT Eastside group.
